Welcome

Soliya is an international non-profit organization with offices in New York and Cairo.  Our mission is to improve relations between Western and predominantly Muslim societies by enabling youth to participate in cross-cultural dialogue and education.  Soliya's programs use videoconferencing and new media to connect young people from around the world and engage them in conversations about pressing global issues using proven conflict resolution methodologies.

Our dialogue initiatives are sustained, facilitated and have been incorporated into accredited courses at over 90 universities worldwide.  In order to continue advancing the field of cross-cultural dialogue, Soliya has sponsored cutting-edge research addressing how media impacts intergroup relations at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard University and the New School for Social Research.  The findings of this research are available in English and in Arabic.

We believe that all young people need and deserve access to opportunities for cross-cultural dialogue, education and exchange. The connectivity enabled by new media makes it possible to extend these opportunities to millions of young people who would not otherwise be able to participate.  Soliya has recently launched the Exchange 2.0 campaign with the goal of making it the norm for young adults to have profound, international cross-cultural experiences as part of their education.  We are partnering with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, the United States Institute of Peace and the Obama Administration's Partners for a New Beginning initiative to achieve this vision.
