In 2009, Soliya merged with the Alliance of Civilizations Media Fund, establishing a partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations. The UNAOC is a project of the UN Secretary-General that aims “to reduce tensions across cultural divides that threaten to inflame existing political conflicts or trigger new ones.”

Soliya supports the UNAOC’s efforts to engage young people in this effort by enabling and supporting them to use media and communications technologies to foster greater cross-cultural understanding.

For its part, the UNAOC:

• Supports Soliya’s outreach to broader and more diverse youth populations globally.

• Facilitates access to other UN agencies that can support or expand the impact of Soliya’s programs.

• Extends the reach of Soliya’s work by sharing our news and developments with the UNAOC’s vast global network of governments, civil society organizations, donors, and activists committed to improving cross-cultural understanding, peace, and security.

The UNAOC has also accredited Soliya’s Facilitation Training, so each person who completes the Advanced Facilitation Training and facilitates a full semester of the Connect Program receives a certificate from the UN and Soliya.
